The Toronto Humane Society
The Toronto Humane Society is an organization dedicated to the humane treatment of all animals. Founded in 1887 by John J. Kelso, the Society had need of a web site which would look professional enough to be worthy of public scrutiny, while at the same time modern enough to handle public demand for animal advocacy information and services such as Lost and Found.
I completely redesigned the former site and incorporated numerous databases to handle Public Lost and Found animals, petitions and polls, as well as tracking and categorizing of the animals within the shelter itself.
Since its launch in April 2006, the Society's web site has received many acclaims and testimonials from members of the public and other, non-profit organizations.
CanadaStrays.com
Owner: Gary Roberts.
CanadaStrays.com is a Web site dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their owners, and for finding unwanted pets and strays a new place to live.
The site was launched in March 2003. I designed the whole look and feel of the site (I'm now the site's Webmaster), as well as the back-end database which powers the search function and the adding of information to the database by the visitor to the site.
CareersInConstruction.ca
Careersinconstruction.ca is a bilingual Web site with information on the amazing range of careers in Canada’s construction industry. The site was designed to help you choose the career path that’s right for you and to find the resources you need to start building your future today.
I developed CareersInConstruction.ca in collaboration with the Construction Sector Council (CSC), a national organization committed to promoting and improving construction careers in Canada. The CSC is a partnership between labour and business that is helping to develop a highly skilled workforce for tomorrow’s construction industry.
Elmwood School
From 2003-05, I was contracted as Webmaster for the Elmwood School Web site, during which time I worked closely with the Director of Communications, and other staff members on a weekly basis.
The creation of photo galleries, new graphics and news releases were part of a regular update process, in order to keep the site up to date with school issues.
International Association of Business Communicators
The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is a not-for-profit international network of professionals committed to improving the effectiveness of organizations through strategic, interactive and integrated business communication management.
IABC Ottawa is the local chapter of IABC representing more than 200 professional communicators in the Ottawa area.
Working closely with a designer, I developed the IABC Ottawa site and integrated a Members-only directory, as well as a secure, password-protected Extranet for Board members.
National Research Council (NRC)
Working for gordongroup, and a team of designers, I developed the 2003 Annual Report and adapted it to the National Research Council’s corporate Web site.
Unique from previous years, the Report was produced in a "modular" format in order to maximize its use as a marketing tool for the Council’s various fields of research. The result was a series of seven striking documents, packaged as a unit in a customized kit wrapper.
I created the requisite HTML/Web pages, which incorporated key design elements from the printed Report, transforming it into a seamless online report with intuitive navigation and architecture.
University of Ottawa: Tabaret e-Zine
Tabaret, the magazine of the University of Ottawa, Canada’s university, is published bi-annually by the University. The whole look-and-feel of this site was created by designers at gordongroup, which I then spliced into the HTML templates needed to make the site function.
These templates were then integrated with an existing, database-driven application for easy content management and archiving of past issues.
Triangle Horse Sports
I developed the redesign of the Web site for Triangle Horse Sports (the bricks-and-morter store is based in North Carolina) and incorporated a database of user e-mail addresses for e-newsletter marketing.
Also upgraded, is the site’s interactive capabilities; I enhanced the online presence of the horse tack and sportswear store, added a 'Tip of the Week' function to the site, and created a password-protected administration section that allows easy updating, complete with an automated archiving system.
